Leer el tiempo

The 60 images gathered in the work Leer el tiempo, correspond to images that appear in the archives of the North American Intelligence Agencies, referring to countries of the Southern Cone of Latin America.

The condition in which these images burst into the secret intelligence documents makes them sometimes make visible events that took place in the 70s and 80s. These images-objects give access to or evidence the secret condition of Latin American political history, in them the printing on glass and overlapping between one and the other, puts them in a condition of confused shadow, as a reminiscence of what has not finished being elaborated.

In other cases, the images appear in an unconnected way, without us having more details of what they illustrate, apart from what a simple glance can deduce. In the work, archival documents that correspond to images are used to thread together uncertain visual narratives, which remain suspended in their explanation, where one image contaminates or tinges the other, without any certainty as to the exact facts to which they refer or how these narratives that involve surveillance, assassinations, secret reports, and facts of the Dirty War experienced in Latin America come to a conclusion.

Completely crossed-out archives located on the central wall of the work, evidence the condition of unfinished, erased, hidden or secret stories, in which these images, metaphors of our recent history, remain.
