Gladio

Every secret intelligence operation needs a public space in which to confuse and thereby establish a narrative that prevails over the search for the truth. Gladio, the name of the most notorious secret operation known in Europe, presents the covers of magazines and front pages of newspapers, as examples of the functioning of this strategy of tension.

The artist has intervened these covers with black oil pastes or semi-transparent white stains that prevent the reading of the texts, in a manner analogous to the way in which the mass media, strategically manipulated by the intelligence agencies, in the heat of the incidents establish a first emotional story that serves to veil the truth and its complexity through the public commotion.
